Air Niugini’s inaugural flight to Denpasar, Bali, is scheduled for 5 August 2013, as the airline seeks to extend its reach into the region.
Board chairman Garth McIlwain said the airline’s Boeing 737 will operate the once-a-week flights.
Indonesian’s national airline, Garuda International, will also operate flights to PNG through a code-sharing agreement with Air Niugini, which will allow passengers to use a ticket from one airline to travel on the other and will provide connections to Jakarta. Direct flights between Jakarta and Port Moresby are yet to the scheduled.
Air Niugini, which has just appointed a new Chief Executive Officer, currently flies internationally to Australia, Fiji, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Solomon Islands and the Philippines. It recently published its revised local and international flight schedules for the period until 26 October.
